(diesel engines)

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

The screw of adjustment of the maximum turns of the engine is closed by a cap which it is necessary to remove before adjustment. After adjustment it is necessary to close tightly the screw, and this work is desirable for making at Opel service station.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Clear an end face of a pulley of a cranked shaft and paste on it a square from aluminum howl a foil (see fig. Measurement of turns of the engine). Using an optical tachometer, measure engine turns.
2. Warm up the engine to working temperature and check idling turns.
3. Smoothly increasing engine turns, measure the maximum turns. Do not increase turns of the engine above 5200 rpm even if they can be exceeded in connection with inexact adjustment.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a cap from the adjusting screw, weaken a lock-nut and rotating the screw establish demanded maximum turns of the engine.
2. Establish a cap into place.
