1.3.2.6. Check of level of oil in an automatic transmission

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

Check of level of oil in an automatic transmission can be made on a cold transmission (temperature lower 35°С) or on a hot transmission (after a trip on distance about 20 km). Because oil level in an automatic transmission is checked at I work the shchy engine, tighten the hand brake.

Arrangement of labels of level of oil depending on transmission temperature

Cold transmission

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Establish the car on an equal horizontal platform and tighten the hand brake.
2. Start the engine in a mode of idling and, having pressed a brake pedal, move the selector lever to all provisions and establish in situation P.
3. At operation of the engine idling, take щуп for measurement of level of oil in a transmission, wipe it and repeatedly establish into place, then take it once again. Oil level on щупе should be between MAX and MIN marks from outside щупа with an inscription +20°С.
4. If oil level low, add oil through an opening for щупа.
5. Always support oil level between two labels щупа. Shortage of oil can lead to serious breakages of a transmission.
6. If there is a need often to add oil, that, means, leak which it is necessary to find and eliminate takes place until it did not lead to serious consequences.

Hot transmission

Measurement of level of oil on a hot transmission is made in the same way, as well as on a cold transmission, but level of oil is checked from outside щупа with an inscription +80°С.

Check of a condition of oil

At check of level of oil in automATI to a chesky transmission also check an oil condition. For simplification of check of a condition of oil compare color, a smell and viscosity of oil to new oil.

If oil in a transmission dark or nearly black with a zhzheny smell, means, frictional overlays of a transmission are worn-out.

If oil in a transmission has dairy color, means, water got to it. It can occur at a constant эксплуа car tatsiya on short trips. If color of oil does not change after a long trip, it is necessary to replace oil.

If oil has dark brown color and sticky, it can be because of an overheat of a transmission or too high level of oil in a box. If replacement of oil does not give result, it is necessary to present the car in a specialized workshop of Opel.

If at check of level of oil or oil replacement at an automatic box in oil there are particles of dirt or metal shaving, it is necessary to make diagnostics or repair of an automatic transmission on специализи rovanny station technical serve Opel vaniye.
