18.5. Safety locks and relay

Fuse removal on models of 2,0 l

Fuses are intended to break off a chain when the current in a chain exceeds admissible value.

Fuses are placed in the block of safety locks and the relay located under a cover from the bottom right side of the dashboard (see fig. An arrangement of safety locks and the relay on the dashboard on SRi model of 2,0 l). The arrangement of safety locks and the electric chains protected by safety locks, are given in inside on a cover of the block of safety locks and the relay.

Before removal of a safety lock switch off ignition. To remove a safety lock, simply take it from the socket (see fig. Fuse removal on models of 2,0 l). The wire in a safety lock is easily appreciable and will be broken off, if the safety lock fused.

Always replace a safety lock with other safety lock of the same capacity. Each safety lock has an inscription about size of a protected current. Never replace a safety lock more than once, without having defined the reason of its peregoraniye.


Arrangement of the block of the relay in a motor compartment on SRi model of 2,0 l

The relay is an electronic operated switch which is usually used as follows:

– the relay can switch big currents distantly from a chain in which this current flows, allowing to use thinner wires and contacts of switches;
– the relay can have more than one managing director of an entrance, unlike механичес whom the switch;
– the relay can carry out timer function, for example, to set an interval of work of screen wipers.

If the system operated by the relay, fails also a cause of defect, probably, the relay is, listen to operation of the relay at the included system. If the relay regularly works, you should hear click at its inclusion. If the relay is serviceable, the cause of defect is concluded in elements or connecting wires. If the relay does not work, it means that it does not receive the main power supply either an operating impulse, or the relay is faulty.

For replacement of the relay switch off ignition and, having simply pulled the relay, take it from a nest and insert on its place new.

The most part of the relay is located from a reverse side of the main block of safety locks. For access to the relay unscrew screws and take the block of safety locks, moving it forward. The relay of a back screen wiper is located in a back door behind the upholstery panel.

On some models additional relays are located in the block of the relay established on the left side of a motor compartment (see fig. An arrangement of the block of the relay in a motor compartment on SRi model of 2,0 l).
